James Stephens was born in Detroit in 1960.
He graduated with a BFA from the Center for Creative Studies in Detroit in 1982.
James moved to Chicago in 1990.
James married writer and photographer David Greene in 2008. James and David reside in the Morgan Park neighborhood of Chicago.
